BVG out ofGreifenberg/Ammersee/Bavaria/Germany landed a big success with Pratt Industries, USA. Allpaper machines by Pratt in North America will be transferred tothe BVG-Starch-technology.
Pratt-originally Visy Paper out of Australia, which is named „PrattIndustries“in the US -is one of the leading paper companies to produce “Testliner” and “Wellenstoff” from recycled fibers,in the world. Pratt operates in the US 4 paper mills, 12 corrugators, 24 sheet plants and 13 recycling centers.
In October 2015 a complete turnkey BVG starch processing line (silo, starch cooker, service station, DCS) went on stream at the new Pratt green field mill in Valparaiso, Indiana.
BVG-Service StationControl &Command bySmartPhoneThe starch project at Valparaiso was the first order BVG received from Pratt. Only 3 months after start up -in December2015 -BVG was asked by Prattto give offers forthe transformation of theirstarch systems to the BVG technology in their mills: Shreveport, Staten Island und Conyers.
Shreveport was the latestgreenfield mill in US, prior to Valparaiso. This was in 2009, which means that the starch system at Shreveport was still relatively new. Pratt was impressed by the performance of the BVG-Starch processing technology right after start up at Valparaiso, in special about the enzyme system „Super ECC®”, the service station, with the partly patented features, like the “Separator GS”, the „Kidney-Loop Super Strainer SPS®”, the “Super-Strainer ST”, the“Scrap-Trap”, as well as the ability to operate the BVG plant by smartphone with the software Team Viewer.
The people in charge also liked the lack of vibrating screens (shakers) in the service station, which normally is a standard, and which gives problemswithstarch loss, maintenance and costs. The positive results with the BVG Super ECC®at Valparaiso, in respect of significant reduction of starch use, high runabililty ofthe size press, relief ofthe waste water treatment plant, easy operation of the plant and the professional project handling, encouraged the Pratt management,to place orders in first quarter of 2016 with BVG for transforming of all their US paper mills.
The fast decisiongoingfor a new technology was a big surprise! Normally such a process is takinglong time-especially in the paper industry. Transformation will be carried out in the different mills in 3. and4. quarterof 2016.
