BVG, Bauer-Verfahrenstechnik-GmbH out of Greifenberg/Ammersee is happy to be sold out this year. Essential part for this situation is the export business. Especially strong is the China market. The enterprise Lee&Man has placed orders with BVG of total 8 enzyme conversion systems Super-ECC and 8 service stations for film- and size presses, on the spot.

These orders are remarkable, because there was no reference for ECCs in the company before ordering. Compared to German market this would not be possible. But he people in charge at Lee&Man knew exactly, what they were looking for – and their believe in BVG proved right. The first unit, which was commissioned end of January, was totally convincing.

In China so far there was no knowledge about the continuously operating enzyme conversion process. They only had experience with the APS process. So the Chinese experts were very happy, when they learned, that the quality of the enzyme converted starch was much better, as with the APS starch.

On OCC grades they could reduce starch pick up by 20 % and simultaneously reduce wet end starch by 50 %, but staying on the same paper values.

Essential fort this success is the processing of the BVG Super-ECC (E= Enzyme; C=Continuous; C=Conversion). In comparison to all other starch degradation processes the Super ECC shows significant advantages. This matter of fact was not overseen by the „Starch-Experts“ in science and industry so far.

The number one process always was the APS Process (Amonium persulfat), which is wide spread in the industry. Concerning enzyme conversion the plug flow process was all about. BVG knows for more then 20 years, that these estimations are wrong and worked on its own design, which is based just on the opposite of the plug flow theory.

Whenever there was a chance, to compete against the other technological designs, BVG installed full scale ECC – trial systems at site. In those „show downs“, the BVG concept and technology always proved its superiority.

BVG could demonstrate each time, that the complexity of the enzyme process is different to the common theories and that there is a must to accept new ideas. It happened very often, that experience made more progress, as theory, and it is important now to accept that and to get new definitions, what is really going on.

The scepticism for the BVG technology slowed down the efforts of BVG, but could not stop the success of the Super ECC, at the end. More as 100 ECCs were delivered to the paper industry so far. With this amount BVG took the lead in enzyme conversion equipment world wide.

There is also a big market potential in North America. Therefore in 2006 the company BVG, Inc. was founded in the US. It is located in Charleston, SC and is a 100 % subsidiary of BVG Germany.

Office, workshop, ware house, sales force and service are existing already to compete in the biggest market in the world. First success shows up.It is well known, that the American market is a very difficult market and there are many foreign companies, which failed. For BVG this is only additional motivation, because making business is nowhere easy.
